Thought for Today: Don't Cut Corners

I heard two separate preachers preach about David cutting Saul's robe. They both went on to explain that the Bible said after cutting off the corner of Saul's robe, David's conscious bothered him. But the most impactful statement was when one of them said don't cut corners when God wants to give you the whole robe. Amen to that.

Thought for today: On My Watch

I recently watched a movie called Five Feet Apart. A movie about cystic fibrosis patients who weren't allowed to be within 6 feet of each other and had to wear a mask whenever around each other because they were high risk for contracting each other's bacteria which could be fatal. There was one scene where the nurse admitted to allowing two patients to break the rules because she wanted to make them happy as they were in love. Their determination wore down her resolve and she didn't enforce the rules as per her role. The story conveyed, the risks outweighed the reward and they both passed away. The nurse gleened from this event a renewed resolved to not allow this to ever happen again on her watch. I wondered how many times we risk our health and well being by breaking rules in the name of happiness/love. The day sought to compromise her perfectionist tendencies. Little piles would build serving as constant reminders of her flaws. Comprehension refused to support such acts of disregard. Once again, her entropic desires prevailed compelling her to deny the signs of a never-ending cycle which should have registered failure; instead, it issued a challenge that she could not refuse. She began to walk through the existing barriers with a single rake revealing the beauty of accomplishment.

What to do with future distrust

Reality can't already be now under so much pressure Distrustful and willful somehow plague the future Even in the light we used to squint to see demands How things changed from a slow past to greedy hands Worse could be said of naivity and rose colored glasses Wolves dressed in sheeps clothing deceiving the masses Now became then while the patient remained hopeful The midst of the journey time told however grateful To not honor the past seemed less than authentic For we started one step at a time until times ended The shame would be for the future in my imagination to discourage dreamers from dreaming in future generations That the light we used to squint to see demands Would change from a learned past into praying hands
