In my youth

In my youth I paid handsomely for experience
I generously gave away my innocence
I participated in mundane existence

However the night fell and I grew
Sleep gave way to mornings I knew
Fond realities turned memories as I withdrew

I learned to cherish my youthful days
and to protect my innocence always
adding flavor to existence in marvelous displays

Then when night falls and I grow
I will welcome rest for now I know
realities can be met with purpose also

So remember and hold dear all wisdom told
then make the best and appreciate as life unfolds
and your youth will be a blessing as you grow old
